On foot through the Upper Middle Rhine Valley World Heritage Site, always on the heights: from Ehrenbreitstein Fortress via Lahnstein to the Marksburg, through Boppard to Maus Castle and up the Loreley rock, past Katz Castle to Kaub with its castle in the river, via Lorch and Assmannshausen to the Niederwald Monument and down into Rüdesheim. 111 kilometres over eight days, the longest leg 21 – on foot that is a full day.
